Tara Napoli

Tara Napoli is the founder of Tara Yoga since its opening in 2012 and has been doing yoga since she was a child. She first learned how to chant, meditate, and visualize from her mom. She specializes in bhakti yoga (of the heart and service), and teaches vinyasa, Power Yoga, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, and her specialty class called Goddess Flow. She is also a Reiki Master Trainer, Yoga teacher trainer, International Yoga Retreat Guide, Singer/Songwriter, and Kirtan Artist. She has been on the yogic path since the day she was born thanks to her mom and has been teaching yoga for over 15 years.  She has had the honor to learn from some of the best Yogi's in Southern CA. Her teachers and inspiration have come from Bryan Kest, Govinda from Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, CA, Amma (the hugging saint), Dr. Venu in Kerala, India, and many more teachers, artists, and musicians. She loves to get first timers hooked on yoga, as well as to encourage the continuing student to grow within their practice so that they can experience the continual powerful healing effects of yoga,

In her youth, she was the number one gymnast in the State of California. After a bad fall, requiring major reconstructive knee surgery, she turned to yoga and was amazed at how quickly she was able to get back to her love of sports. In college, she competed in spring-board diving. After college, she entered the world of film stunts and film stunt coordination. Eventually, Tara's passion turned to helping people re-connect to their body, mind, and soul through the practice and teaching of yoga.

Knowing that yoga is a holistic approach to the body, mind, and soul, Tara found peace and balance through her years of having a meditation, mantra, and asana practice. Losing her father to suicide at the age of five left her with many questions about life and death, along with grief, anxiety, addiction, and much confusion. Through her continual practice of yoga in all its aspects, she found liberation from the heaviness and hopes to inspire others through yoga and its ancient teachings.

Tara believes that the true teacher lives within your body, mind, and soul. Learning to listen to and to follow your internal guidance creates an authentic practice. Tara supports the space for her students to discover what lies beneath the surface of each breath.

Tara teaches morning and night classes daily, so check out the schedule to see when she's teaching!

Her classes are designed to awaken, inspire, and to bring you deeper into your body, mind, and souls' awareness.

Students often leave Tara's classes feeling as though they have come home to their bodies, unleashing powerful energies!

Haruka Nakajima

Haruka started her Yoga journey with hot yoga as part of her exercise in 2015. She was focusing posture and strength, but after she walked into Tara Napoli’s studio, it changed her idea of Yoga. She felt like she was released from all her crazy mind and stress after first class with Tara. She immediately fall in love with more meditative, creative and spiritual side of yoga and signed up to the teacher training at Tara Yoga the next day.

She started teaching at Tara Yoga in 2018. Yoga practice with her increases awareness of the body and allowing the mind and body to prepare for your meditation.

Letting go and  being mindful is her goal of each practice. As she is an active jiu-jitsu competitor once ranked first in the world in her division, yoga gave her even more skills to bring into the big stage her Jitsu practices.

Nicole Castillo

Nicole has been doing yoga on and off again for the past 5 years, but it isn’t until she stepped into the Tara Yoga studio, the summer of 2019, that she has consistently been doing yoga ever since. She always knew that yoga was good to incorporate into her routine as an athlete, to get her body to be a bit more flexible and fluid as a runner. While yoga complimented her running, it soon began to be much more than just about the stretching, even though the stretching, the balances, and moving the body in different directions are all things that have become important aspects in her life.

As an endurance runner & run coach she has become in tuned with her body, and what it needs on a daily basis. Yoga has given this space in her life to dive deeper into the physical, spiritual, and metal aspects of her being.

While practicing, learning, and completing the teacher training at Tara Yoga she gravitated more and more towards the inner healing quality of yoga. There is magic that happens on the mat, that allows each individual to work on themselves, find inner peace, and strength. By guiding people through their own practice, Nicole wants each person to genuinely find their own love for yoga: both on the mat and outside in the world.

While, yoga has helped her with her own running, it has become so much more. The endless journey of self love and discovery.

Roman Stollenwerk

Roman began his yoga practice while on a vacation.  A single unplanned class led him to immediately find his home studio, Tara Yoga, upon his return home to Los Angeles.  Previously, through his life, he had engaged fitness as a necessary task to obtain his goals for his physical appearance, but he didn't enjoy it.  Yoga changed that for him by allowing him to quiet his mind and focus on the feeling of Tara Yoga. Eventually, he finished his 200HR teacher training at Tara  Yoga.

His approach to yoga is to encourage a consistent vigorous daily practice focusing on the activity and feeling of yoga.  His style is fun, flowing and challenging.  He believes that any desired physical results will come as a natural outgrowth of the dedication to your practice.

Ligia Wills

Ligia discovered yoga in 2018 and her curiosity quickly became a passion that led to her becoming a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher through The Yoga Alliance.

Her intention as a teacher is to help students live a high quality of life with less physical pain and to make yoga inclusive for all ages and levels. For group classes, she teaches Hatha, Yin, and Chair Yoga flows in English and Spanish as well as personalized private practices. She strives for her students to leave her class with a deeper connection to their bodies and a sense of ease in their minds.

Kat Mueller

Kat discovered yoga 25 years ago, relieved to find a good workout outside of the western ideals of sport or gym culture.  She received her 200hr YTT during the quarantine months of 2020. The pandemic placed Kat in a situation where she could completely dedicate her days, weeks and months to her instructional certification. Kat’s interest grew to a passion and she was so grateful to have had the time and mental space to take such a deep dive into the vast and more subtle aspects of yoga. Her yoga practice has shown her that with consistency and detachment from the outcome, she can achieve things she never thought possible on and off the mat.  Besides the physical benefits that a consistent practice provides, she has found her personal yoga journey to be a great help in dealing with anxiety, addictive behaviors and negative self-talk.

Kat encourages students to express and engage with yoga in an accessible, authentic, and responsible way from wherever the body is in that moment, practicing the utmost compassion for oneself during the discomfort or frustration that arises from learning and practicing. Her classes create a safe container where participants can work through their yoga practice at their own level in order to feel more empowered, grounded and at home in their bodies. When Kat is not in the studio, she is running her photography business, parenting her children, having a hot flash, or dancing in the kitchen to The Cure.

Caitlin Yeseta

Caitlin started practicing yoga in 2011 seeking relief from the pressures of graduate school and was immediately hooked. Her passion for yoga continued to deepen and grow over the years and she eventually found her yoga home at Tara Yoga in the fall of 2017. In January 2020, Caitlin started her 200-hour teacher training at Tara Yoga. Although the pandemic forced her teacher training to move online, she embraced virtual practices, teaching and taking online classes throughout the pandemic.

Caitlin teaches a vinyasa flow class that is fun, energizing, and challenging. She gently guides her students to grow in their yoga practice at their own pace. Caitlin is also a practicing pharmacist specializing in pain management. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two rescue dogs.

Vicky Covis

Needing P.E. credits at Pasadena City College Vicky thought taking a yoga class would be a little more interesting than the standard P.E. classes that were offered. Thus began her yoga journey way back in 2010. In 2016 she discovered BUTI Yoga and fell in love with the practice. She received her BUTI Certification in 2020. Desiring to deepen her knowledge of yoga but tired of zoom led her to seek out a local studio that had opened back up and was following all the local health regulations. After taking a few vinyasa flow classes and feeling at home with the atmosphere and culture at Tara Yoga she decided to take the 200HR Teacher Training. Vicky’s approach to yoga focuses on alignment while listening and doing what currently feels best for your body. Her wish is to have students leave her class feeling a little stronger, a little more relaxed and a little more at ease with their bodies and to carry that feeling with them throughout the rest of their day. Namaste.
